Johannes Cortez

Founder of Prom13us. Building games where AI is the player and the human becomes the coach. Daddy of Agentic Gaming, apparently.

Johannes Cortez is the founder of Prom13us, the studio behind Mochi and Sitrep. Sitrep is the studio’s first launch: a tactical FPS where one player commands five AI soldiers by talking.

Current work

Prom13us

An AI gaming studio focused on agent-native games that could not exist without AI agents.

Mochi

An open-source agent controller for games. Mochi plays while the human redirects, approves or vetoes decisions.

Sitrep

Prom13us’s first launch. A tactical FPS with no aiming or button-mashing: command a five-soldier squad by talking.

Writing

Agent mistakes should be part of the game

In Mochi, an agent's understandable mistakes turn coaching into stories.

Coaching can become a game mechanic

When an agent plays and the human coaches, communication becomes a game skill.

The retrofit trap

Adding a model to an old game may make a feature. It does not make a new game.

Agent-native games are missing a controller

Mochi gives game-playing agents slow strategy and fast response in one controller.

The game should disappear without the LLM

Remove the LLM from an AI-native game and the game itself disappears.

A shooter where aim is not the main skill

Sitrep asks how well you lead five AI agents, not how well you aim.

The next generation of games

Stop remaking the past with AI. Build new forms of play.

What does “Daddy of Agentic Gaming” mean?

It is Johannes’s tongue-in-cheek name for a serious thesis: AI should create new forms of play, not just add generated content to yesterday’s games. Agentic gaming is still an emerging field with no single established originator. Johannes is one of the founders advocating for it through Prom13us, Mochi and Sitrep.
